3D Scanning Services
What We Can Do For You
Visum 3D provides 3D scanning services such as reverse engineering, CAD models, ready-to-print 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, and more. Whether your manufacturing, designing around something or reverse engineering, consider us for your 3D scanning needs. We offer metrology grade technology coupled with professional level skills backed by years of experience. Visum 3D is conveniently located in the greater Atlanta area.
3D Scanning Service
Using metrology grade scan equipment and software, point data is acquired from the scan object.
- Scan object to acquire point data
- Scan accuracy maximum of 0.020mm
- Conforming to VDI/VDE standards
- Point data is converted to mesh data for downstream applications
Reverse Engineering
Mesh data is imported into dedicated reverse engineering software to produce CAD models or 3D printable models.
- Mesh data is used to create a CAD model of the original scan object using dedicated reverse engineering software
- Mesh data can be processed to produce a 3D printable model of the original scan object
- Object scan data can be used to design attachments/accessories and or mating objects around the original scan object for downstream manufacturing or prototyping and 3D printing
- Scan object geometry is limited to line-of-sight restrictions inherent to optical based 3D scanning
CAD Models
Mesh data is used to create CAD models for downstream use such as design and manufacturing.
- Mesh data is used to create a CAD solid or surface model
- Model can incorporate design-intent or as-is geometry
- Multiple models can be created to create an assembly
- A nominal CAD model can be created for reference in 3D quality dimensional inspection
Ready-To-Print 3D Models
Mesh data can be processed to create 3D printable models.
- Mesh data is healed and made watertight for printability
- Mesh data from multiple objects can be combined or subtracted to create final object for print
- Object scan data can be used to design attachments/accessories and or mating objects around the original scan object for downstream manufacturing or 3D printing
- Mating tolerances are dependent on the resolution of the 3D printer to be used
2D Engineering Drawings
CAD models are used to create 2D engineering drawings (blueprints, dimensional prints, mechanical drawings).
- 2D Engineering drawings with all dimensions necessary for manufacturing
- Tolerances are defined by customer requirements
- GD&T can be applied
